Our Story

Slices and Smiles began with a simple love for cake. the kind that makes you pause, smile, and go back for one more bite. Growing up in Colombo, I was always curious about different flavors and textures. Every café and hotel cake counter visit felt like a tiny adventure, and every new slice told its own flavor story.

 

That curiosity traveled with me to Manhattan, where I discovered an entirely new world of cakes. From elegant hotel dessert counters to cozy neighborhood bakeries, I tasted everything I could, exploring how creativity, culture, and care come together in something as simple and magical as cake. Each slice brought a small surprise, a new favorite, and a reminder of why cake has always been such a joy.

 

Slices and Smiles is all about celebrating the magic of cake. How it brings people together, sparks joy, and puts a smile on everyone’s face. Definitely! 💫 You don’t need to know anyone to join in, this is the perfect place to meet new people. Lots of guests come on their own, and it always turns into a fun mix of friendly faces, good conversations, and shared laughter. Come as you are, we’ll make sure you feel right at home! 🌟

Just a few sweet tips! 🎂 Cakes should be at least 8 inches in diameter. Please skip aluminum pans and place your cake on a cake board so it looks amazing on the display table. If it’s a delicate cake, feel free to use any packaging needed to keep it safe. We absolutely love beautifully decorated cakes in all flavors, get creative and have fun! ✨

Tiny humans are more than welcome!  Kids under 6 can come, play, and even enjoy a little cake without needing a ticket or a full cake. Everyone else needs a ticket and a cake to join in the fun. As for our furry friends, 🐶 Slices and Smiles is a no-dogs zone. They’ll have to cheer from home! 🎉

Totally up to you! 💛 You can bake and decorate it yourself for maximum bragging rights or take the easy route and grab a cake from your favorite bakery/Hotel/Cafe. Either way, make sure it meets the minimum size and display requirements. We want all cakes looking at their sweetest on the table! ✨
